The New York Giants released their kicker on Tuesday, ending an ugly chapter in the organization’s history. Brown had been suspended earlier in the year.

On Tuesday, the New York Giants released Josh Brown, ending the working relationship between the kicker and the organization. The team had been investigating Brown’s arrest for domestic violence, and did not have him travel with the team in Week 7 to London. New York signed Robbie Gould to take care of kicking duties during the Rams in London, and will likely hold onto the Pro Bowl kicker the rest of the way. Brown, in 165 pages worth of documents, admitted to physically, verbally and emotionally abusing his then-wife, Molly Brown.

The Houston Texans were manhandled by the Denver Broncos on Monday night, losing 27-9 on the road. Quarterback Brock Osweiler, who was signed by the Texans for $72 million dollars this past offseason, looked very bad against his old team. He struggled to hit open receivers, could not move the ball consistently, and fumbled the ball three times. On Tuesday, head coach Bill O’Brien said he has not considered benching Osweiler despite his bad play this season.

During that Texans and Broncos game, Denver star defensive end DeMarcus Ware’s house was robbed. Ware posted to Twitter that when he returned home after the game he discovered that his house had been robbed. The Pro Bowler has hidden cameras installed at the house, so the police should be able to figure out who did this to him. Ware was not worried about his material things, and thanked God for keeping his family safe.

Jay Cutler has been out for the past few weeks with a thumb injury, but is ready to return to the Chicago Bears this week. Cutler would not have gotten his starting spot back if Brian Hoyer was healthy, but Hoyer broke his arm last week in a Thursday night loss to the Green Bay Packers. When asked if he thought he had the support of head coach John Fox, Cutler replied that Fox did not have a choice but to support him. Should be an interesting rest of the season for the Bears.

Good news for Pittsburgh Steelers fans, as Ben Roethlisberger expects to return to practice this week. The Steelers were forced to go with Landry Jones at quarterback this past week against the New England Patriots, as Big Ben had to sit out while he recovers from knee surgery. Pittsburgh has a bye this week, but are hoping to have Roethlisberger under center when they resume their schedule in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens.
