As we reach the halfway point of the NFL regular season, these five coaches desperately need a win in Week 8.

The NFL pecking order is starting to sort itself out as we reach the halfway point of the regular season. Some teams have surprised us, like the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons, while others have been massive disappointments.

For those teams that have failed to meet expectations this season, their respective head coaches are starting to find themselves on the hot seat. Heading into Week 8, these five coaches have to get a win or else they’ll be firmly on the hot seat for the rest of the year.

Of the five head coaches on this list, Ron Rivera’s job is probably the most secure. The Carolina Panthers went all the way to the Super Bowl last season and have arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Cam Newton.

However, at the same time, the Panthers are just 1-5 and have a ton of holes. The secondary looks particularly bad, which is making a lot of fans question why the team didn’t bring back Josh Norman instead of letting him go to Washington.

The Panthers will be going head-to-head with one of the more talented teams in the NFC in the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. However, like the Panthers, the Cardinals have failed to meet expectations this year.

Rivera and the Panthers desperately need a win here to keep their playoff hopes alive. If they fall on Sunday and move to 1-6, it’s going to be almost impossible for the Panthers to sneak into the postseason, and that’s bad news for Rivera’s job security.
