Dallas Cowboys punter Chris Jones took a direct snap and executed a fake punt to perfection against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Dallas Cowboys had been tearing teams with their dynamic offense early on in the season. On Sunday night, they were in a bit of a defensive struggle against the Philadelphia Eagles. Needing a spark in the worst of the ways, punter Chris Jones came through when they needed someone to do so.

With the Eagles up 10, the Cowboys made the gutsy call to go for a fake punt deep in their own territory. Not only was it a fake, but it was a direct snap that called for the punter to take off running. Jones had a set of wheels on him and he was off to the races.

No one and certainly not the Philadelphia Eagles were expecting the fake at that moment. They also probably weren’t expecting the blazing speed of Jones to come pouring down upon them in that very exact moment.

The beauty of football is to expect the unexpected. The Cowboys would have likely never heard the end of it had that play not been successful. They look like a bunch of geniuses instead after a play call like that one.
