Idris Elba makes a successful kickboxing debut

We already know that Idris Elba is a phenomenal actor, but now, we can also say that he’s a decent kickboxer after making his professional debut.

In the film industry, one actor that stands out is Idris Elba. Throughout the years, Elba has been involved in some incredible films. He started off his acting career with some questionable films and mostly supporting roles, but he has really grown since then.

To name a few, Elba has been involved in great films, like Prometheus, Pacific Rim, and Star Trek Beyond. His best role yet was in Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation. He has even shown off his voice acting chops in The Jungle Book, Finding Dory, and Zootopia. With other films in the pipeline, Elba isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Other than his acting career, it looks like Elba has ventured off into other professions as well. Thanks to Madonna, she posted a short video clip on Instagram, which shows Elba competing in a kickboxing match.

To our surprise, for someone who hasn’t trained very long and is 44 years old, he looks like a solid competitor. In the video clip, you see him throw nice combinations and he’s able to take some shots as well.

So far, this is the only video that we can see of Elba competing in his kickboxing debut. We aren’t sure whether he’ll be competing again, but we do know why he stepped inside the ring in the first place.

Elba will be a part of a three part documentary known as Idris Elba: Fighter. In this documentary, we’ll see Elba travel across the world to learn the history of different martial arts, like Muay Thai and kickboxing (Source: The Mac Life).

It should be very interesting. The documentary will premiere on the Discovery Channel next year.
