Carlos Condit is still uncertain about his future in MMA

Former UFC interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit is going through one of the roughest patches of his mixed martial arts career at the moment, having now lost two consecutive bouts after his first round submission defeat to jiu-jitsu juggernaut Demian Maia back at UFC on FOX this past August.

‘The Natural Born Killer’ and some fellow UFC vets were recently in Las Vegas to attend a Veteran Athlete Summit where fighters were taught how to prepare for life outside of the cage once they decide to hang up the gloves for good. While in ‘Sin City,’ Condit caught up with The Las Vegas Review Journal (courtesy of MMA Mania) to discuss his future inside the Octagon, to which he stated that as for now he is currently undecided on his fighting future:

"“I’m not sure, I haven’t made a hard decision on that. But, regardless, I think all of us in our career we start putting things in place to set yourself up for success,” he said."

Condit would go on to state that he holds a burning passion for nutrition and fitness, something he plans on utilizing to help others lead healthier lifestyles once he is finally done wreaking havoc on the 170-pound division where he once racked up an impressive five-fight win streak from 2009 to 2012, before being defeated by Georges St-Pierre in their welterweight title unification bout at UFC 154 :

"“I’m passionate about fitness, active lifestyle and nutrition,” Condit said. “I think that there’s a lot of different opportunities for that as people decide they don’t want to be unhealthy, and they want to live healthy lifestyles. So I think I’ll probably go into that field.”"

Prior to his loss with Maia, Condit earned a shot to take on the now former welterweight champ Robbie Lawler at UFC 195, after a TKO win over Thiago Alves in May of 2015 in the opening main event of 2016 where the two combatants put on a five round slugfest for the ages. Lawler would take home a controversial split decision win to retain the title, sparking thoughts in Condit’s head that he may no longer have what it takes to compete at the highest level of the sport.
