Rajai Davis hit a clutch home run for the Cleveland Indians to tie Game 7 of the 2016 World Series and Twitter nearly broke

The Cleveland Indians found themselves in quite a predicament at home in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series. Despite starting the game with their ace Corey Kluber, they found themselves trailing 6-3 going into the bottom of the eighth inning. But in a game and series that has been complete insanity, the most unlikely of heroes came to bat for the Indians: Rajai Davis.

Davis is a veteran who has been around the league for years—and certainly isn’t a player known for his power. However, he stepped into the box against the heat-throwing Aroldis Chapman with a man on second and the lead having been cut to 6-4. Then, he swung.

His swing made hard contact and sent a screaming line drive into left field. And as Cubs fans hoped it would die and at least bounce off the wall, it kept flying until it cleared the fence. Unbelievably, Rajai Davis tied Game 7 of the World Series with a two-run homer.

Twitter couldn’t handle the home run—like not even a little bit:

This is absolute insanity, so no wonder the home run broke Twitter. On the broadcast, they stated that this was the first time in World Series history that a player hit a game-tying home run in the eighth inning or later in Game 7. And to think, it happened off the bat of a guy with 55 career dingers.

The 2016 World Series is everything great about sports.
