The Chicago Cubs broke their 108-year drought, winning the 2016 World Series, and Wrigleyville back in the Windy City went nuts

The Chicago Cubs are the 2016 World Series Champions. Let that phrase sink in for a second if you aren’t fully processing it. Generations, lives, hopes, and dreams have all passed since the last time that was reality. It had been 108 years, but the magical Cubs completed their comeback from being down 3-1 to the Cleveland Indians with an extra-innings win in Game 7 on Wednesday night.

We may never see another moment quite of this magnitude in sports. You aren’t just talking about a title-drought or even one that has lasted more than a century. This is the end of heartbreak for a fan-base that is one of the most passionate in baseball and in any sport. It’s truly one of the most electrifying things that you’ll ever see in your life, guaranteed.

If you’re not convinced, the city of Chicago was almost entirely watching the game together. Many of those fans back in the Windy City were gathered at the famed Wrigleyville. And when the final out was recorded from Kris Bryant to Anthony Rizzo, the crowd that was there exploded—as they should have:

And another angle, with an even louder reaction:

Yes, it’s completely normal to have goosebumps right now.

In that reaction, there is relief, exuberance, unfathomable joy, and so many more emotions that are hard to quantify. What’s better is that you have to feel great for them in this moment. They’ve been through countless close calls and gut-wrenching moments. This wasn’t one of them. This time, they beat the curse, beat history, and are now World Series champions. Go Cubs go.
