Former LSU Tigers head coach, Les Miles, has not stopped working despite being fired in September. Currently, he is reviewing potential candidates to serve as his coaching staff in 2017.

Les Miles, according to ESPN, is putting together a coaching staff, including potential offensive and defensive coordinators. Since being fired on September 25th, Miles has stuck by his word as he intends to coach in 2017.

Miles was in his 12th season at LSU before being fired. During that time the Tigers went 114-34, winning a national championship title, two SEC championships, and winning 10 or more games in his 11 full seasons.

According to ESPN’s report, Miles and his representatives have already been contacted about 2017 coaching jobs. Miles told ESPN on Thursday that he would not discuss any specific opportunities and whether they were NFL or college.

“I’m looking for a place dedicated to the players’ achievement in the classroom and that wants to win championships,” said Miles, who turned down television offers after his dismissal at LSU. “If there’s an athletic director and president that wants to do that, I’m in line.”

Miles has had a knack for hiring impact coordinators. At LSU he previously hired John Chavis and Dave Aranda. During his time at Oklahoma State, Miles hired Mike Gundy. Between his coordinators and his own ability, Miles and his crews have coached in 14 consecutive bowl games with LSU and Oklahoma State.

“Since getting fired at LSU, Les has really had an epiphany on how he needs to open up offensively at his next stop,” an industry source said. “He is committed to it.”

Miles’s issues came when his physical, run-heavy offense became flat and timid. Since his firing, though, he has been studying up on explosive offensives such as Baylor’s.

“I’m excited to get another opportunity to take a team to the field and fight for victory,” said Miles. “Right now that is my focus.”

Miles, who turns 63 next Thursday, also said that he’s received “a lot of support” via text and phone call from college and high school coaches across the country. They also want to know where he will end up.

Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, and Les Miles were the only four active coaches to win multiple national championships. Now, however, it’s down to three. Miles is stuck waiting and watching until 2017. However, he did say he will “watch every snap” of LSU’s game against Alabama on Saturday.

“Absolutely, I will watch it,” Miles told ESPN. “I will watch every snap. I like the Tigers.”
