Deshaun Watson took a shot against Syracuse on Saturday during the first half and injured his throwing shoulder.

Well, Saturday got off to an ideal start for Deshaun Watson and the No. 2 Clemson Tigers against the Syracuse Orange.

Then, it became less than ideal.

In the first half of Saturday’s game, Watson and the Tigers got off to 23-0 start, and then Watson took a shot and something didn’t sit right. It was late in the first half with Clemson up big, but it was noticeable that Watson wasn’t right after a run that saw him land very awkwardly on his throwing shoulder.

Yeah, that’s not good.

Granted, the Tigers won’t need Watson in the second half today, as they lead the Orange by 30 at the break. But, if Watson’s shoulder is damaged, that could spell for some bad news for the nation’s second-ranked team down the stretch.

Nick Schuessler did come and throw a touchdown pass to make it 30-0 Tigers, but he’s not Deshaun Watson.

The Tigers will be fine for today, but all eyes in Death Valley will be on the status of Watson moving forward. Without him, there’s no realistic chance at them getting their rematch against Alabama with the national title on the line once again.

There’s been no further updates on Watson’s status for today and beyond yet, but it’d be safe to assume that he’s done for the day. The Tigers are just steamrolling the Orange at home and there’s no need for Watson to potentially injure himself further on Saturday.

Now, the question is: How much time will Watson miss?

Clemson has a favorable schedule in the final four weeks, plus the ACC Championship Game potentially.
