Texas Tech Red Raiders defensive back Douglas Coleman rips the ball out of Texas Longhorns running back D’Onta Foreman’s arms for a 100-yard touchdown.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been ridiculed for much of the Kliff Kingsbury era in Lubbock for playing essentially no defense. Fate would have it that Texas Tech would come up with one of the craziest defensive plays in the 2016 college football season.

Up 16-14 against the in-state rival Texas Longhorns, Red Raiders defensive back Douglas Coleman is able to strip Longhorns running back D’Onta Foreman at the goal line for an insane 100-yard defensive touchdown.

Foreman would get a 23-yard gain on the weak Texas Tech defense, but Coleman wasn’t going to let him get into the end zone. Despite it being a third and goal from the Texas Tech 23-yard line, Foreman almost muscled his way into the Red Raiders’ end zone.

Coleman would come up with the football and then proceeded to explode down the sidelines before Texas knew what happened. He would be off to the races by the time he got to his own five-yard line.

It was one of the most ridiculous defensive touchdowns you will ever see in a college football game. With both teams at 4-4 on the season, this major rivalry game has serious bowl implications for either school.

Texas needs to win this game to avoid seeing head coach Charlie Strong be on the way out. The University of Texas athletic department said he would remain on the job in 2017 if he went 8-4 during the 2016 regular season. A loss in Lubbock would limit the Longhorns to a 7-5 regular season ceiling this season.
