On Sunday in Week 9, the Miami Dolphins defeated the New York Jets 27-23 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

With the win, the Dolphins move to 4-4 and have won three in a row. It was another grind it out day for their offense, but the Dolphins persevered and the defense stepped up in critical moments. Jay Ajayi rushed for over 100 yards on a Jets defense that had only given up one 100 yard rushing game prior to this week.

The Jets (3-6) now have dug themselves a hole that appears will sink up their spirits. Where do they go from here? Well to start with, it’s about time we see Bryce Petty start. He came into the game in the fourth quarter briefly and completed both of his passes for 19 yards. Fitzpatrick then returned and finished the game for the Jets.

Head coach Todd Bowles said afterwards that Fitz will start if he’s healthy, saying “Ryan’s the QB,” per Bleacher Report. This can’t be of thrilling news to Jets fans though, as it’s evident the future doesn’t reside in the hands of Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Jets need to find out if the future QB is on the roster, so it’s time to let Petty start.

Three Stars

1. Jay Ajayi

Ajayi again proved to be the backbone for Miami’s offense. With Ryan Tannehill playing safe football and not turning it over, Ajayi was the vocal point of the offense. He finished with 111 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown. At 4-4, Miami will go as far as the offensive line, and Ajayi go.

2. Kenyan Drake

The backup to Ajayi, Drake had a 96-yard touchdown return on the kickoff with 5:15 left in the game. Till that point, the Dolphins were trailing 23-20. It was a key play in the game for Miami, who’s offense started off hot but was slowed down in the later parts of this game.

3. Cameron Wake/Ndamukong Suh

Cameron Wake and Ndamukong Suh had three sacks combined, two for Wake and one for Suh. They had an additional three QB hits, another two for Wake and another one for Suh. The duo played well as Suh took advantage of a Jets offensive line that was missing All-Pro center Nick Mangold.

Odds

Miami was a four-point favorite at home with the over/under set at 45.
