Planet Earth iguana chase video set to NFL Primetime music is the greatest

Not many viral videos can be improved upon, but here’s an instance of one that was.

If you’ve been spending any time on the internets avoiding last minute election coverage today, there’s a good chance you’ve already stumbled across an amazing clip from the BBC One documentary series Planet Earth. It features a baby iguana in a hair-raising journey to avoid  Galapagos racer snakes, and is striking enough as is that even places like Entertainment Weekly are writing about it.

Can it be made even better, though? It can. And it has.

Thanks to UPROXX editor Brian C. Grubb, here’s the exact same sequence set to the extended highlight music from ESPN’s NFL Primetime. Watch it again and thank us (and Mr. Grubb) later:

That music is a little corny on its own, but then it’s never been used to highlight a life or death struggle like this. Yes, no matter what Chris Berman would have you believe about the importance of a late season Jags-Browns contest.

Of course, this particular treatment of the iguana chase video has led to plenty of jokes on Twitter about how the lizard never stopped churning its legs and working to reach the sticks. That’s probably to be expected.

For those of you who’d prefer to see the chase in its pure, unadulterated form, we can help you with that too:

As EW notes, the clip is from the first episode of Planet Earth II, which won’t air here in the U.S. until January 28, 2017. That’s plenty of time for a bunch more internet memes to be spawned in the interim.
