How much are plane tickets to Canada?

With a Donald Trump presidency looking more and more likely, people are trying to move to Canada. So much so that their immigration website crashed.

Americans are watching the Election coverage with baited breath, but Canada is doing the same thing, just with a different reaction. It’s easy to think that everyone up North is sipping tea like Kermit the Frog as one of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will become the new Leader of the Free World.

Meanwhile, everyone who joked about possibly moving to Canada following the election are actually following through with that. While the results are pouring in and Trump is leading in key battleground states, people are looking to apply for Canadian Citizenship. However, I don’t think their offices anticipated this many people logging in at once, since their servers just crashed:

But if people are really that desperate, you don’t need to apply for citizenship in order to move to Canada. You can still take an extended vacation, and Expedia is still up and running. Obviously, the cost of a plane ticket to Canada depends on where you live, and which city you plan on traveling to.

Don’t go to a big city like Toronto or Montreal, though. Supply and demand means that prices for those flights will start to spike. Somewhere like Regina, Prince Edward Island, or even the Northwest Territories if you really want to get away from all of this will be a lot cheaper, and will carry the same intended effect.

A lot of people shy away from moving to Canada because of its cold weather. But if you live in a place like Minnesota or North Dakota, it’s even colder there. Besides, converting to Celsius and dealing with temperatures below zero should be the least of people’s concerns at this moment.

Unlike Donald Trump, Canada’s leader Justin Trudeau has opened his borders to large numbers of refugees, and has a fairly open immigration policy. If people really want to move there because of the Election, I’m sure he wouldn’t say no.
