Michigan State freshman phenom Miles Bridges throws down huge alley-oop dunk showing he is indeed the real deal.

It is the best time of year again, that time being the start of the college basketball season. A new season equals new freshman phenoms to keep an eye on, and one guy standing out already is Miles Bridges of the Michigan State Spartans.

A weekend slated with games that feature big-name schools is bound to produce some highlight plays. One game that has not disappointed is No. 10 Arizona battling No. 12 Michigan State in the Armed Forces Classic happening in Honolulu.

As Michigan State came out of the locker room trailing 34-30, it didn’t take long for Bridges to pick up yet another highlight dunk. He caught the Arizona defense sleeping and broke off toward the basket to throw down the huge one-handed tomahawk dunk.

The number eight prospect out of ESPN’s top 100 players, has always has already dazzled us with his athleticism. With nine points already at the break, Bridges has been the Spartans best player to this point.

The Spartans lost a key talent this summer in senior leader Denzel Valentine. Valentine, who is now a member of the Chicago Bulls, is irreplaceable, but with Bridges’ performance to this point it is encouraging. He has had his fingerprints on a little bit of everything to this point for Michigan State, but he hasn’t been perfect.

Legendary coach Tom Izzo has had to pull his freshman to the side and let him know that he needs to settle down. Despite 21 points for Bridges he is shot just 9-19, and there is still plenty of work to be done for the freshman.

Although this looked like a blowout early, Arizona stormed back to get the win in Hawaii. Bridges and Michigan State were able to hold their own for the most part, but they will needed more if they wanted to pick up an opening night victory.
