Alabama Crimson Tide running back ArDarius Stewart scorches the Mississippi State Bulldogs defense on an 87-yard touchdown to put Alabama up big early.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs had their day in the sun last week, as they have no chance at upsetting the No. 1 team in the nation on the road in their SEC West rival Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama was already up 10-0 on the Bulldogs before running back ArDarius Stewart burnt the Mississippi State defense to a crisp on this outstanding 87-yard touchdown run. The Adam Griffith made PAT would make it 17-0 Alabama early.

A letdown performance for the Crimson Tide in this one was not going to happen on Nick Saban’s watch. Alabama has its eyes set on winning the 2017 College Football Playoff in an undefeated season.

After Mississippi State, Alabama has three more games before reaching the College Football Playoff: Chattanooga, Auburn, and whoever wins the SEC East in the 2016 SEC Championship. Auburn will be tough, but Alabama will be favored in every game it plays the rest of the way this season.

Stewart’s 87-yard rushing touchdown ended all doubt that Mississippi State was going to stay in this game. That score gave Alabama more points than it had last week on the road against the formidable LSU Tigers in Death Valley.

Outside of Auburn, nobody in the SEC is going to be Alabama this season. The Crimson Tide’s real measure of success will come Playoff time. Does Alabama have what it takes to beat two elite college football teams from the other Power 5 conferences?
