Pittsburgh Panthers kicker Chris Blewitt connects on a 48-yard field goal attempt to stun the No. 2 Clemson Tigers at Memorial Stadium, 43-42.

The Pittsburgh Panthers pulled off a shocking upset of the No. 2 Clemson Tigers at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night, 43-42. Pittsburgh was able to stun the previously unbeaten Tigers on a 48-yard game-winning field goal from kick Chris Blewitt.

Blewitt didn’t in fact blow it, as he drained the high-pressure kick to sink Clemson in Death Valley. This kick redeemed a missed PAT by Blewitt earlier in the game. Tonight, he is the hero in Western Pennsylvania.

This was as high-pressured of a kick there is in college football. To have the shot at upsetting a superior conference foe on the road in their house is a once in a lifetime sort of kick. Blewitt was cooler than a cucumber and drained this impressive 48-yard kick to knock down Goliath Clemson.

Blewitt’s kick also got the Panthers to bowl eligibility at 6-4 (3-3) on the season. It’s a great day to be a Pittsburgh football fan, but this could have potentially a massive shakeup in the College Football Playoff hierarchy.

With this one loss, does Clemson drop out of the top-four? The Tigers have played in far too many close games this season. Alabama stays at No. 1 and one would assume Michigan and Washington would go two-three if they win on Saturday night.

With the way that Ohio State and Louisville crush opponents, could either one-loss team leapfrog Clemson and get that No. 4 spot as the best one-loss team in the Power 5? We’ll have to wait until Tuesday for the College Football Playoff Selection Committee to sort this out, but it could very well happen. This is one of those games that will have a major impact in the Playoff picture. That is certain.
