It’s become an awesome weekly tradition for Nebraska opponents to honor the late Sam Foltz, the former Nebraska punter who was killed in a car crash this past July. This week, it was Minnesota’s turn.

One of the best things to see during college football weekends in the fall this year has been how each opponent honors the memory of Sam Foltz before playing Nebraska.

Foltz, the former punter for the Cornhuskers, was tragically killed in a car crash this past summer, along with former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler. The duo was killed late at night in a single-car accident back in July while coming back from a kicking camp in Wisconsin.

LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye was also in the vehicle with Foltz and Sadler at the time of the accident, but survived the accident with just minor injuries.

It was a tragic incident that came out of nowhere and impacted lives throughout the college football world.

Each week during the season, opponents have taken the time to honor Foltz’s memory before kickoff. This week, Minnesota took their turn in honoring the late Nebraska punter.

There was also a video of Minnesota players presenting the custom-made Golden Gophers jersey with Foltz’s name on it and some flowers, too.

You can check that out below.

Like every other team that has presented a gift or two to the Huskers this season, the Gophers did a wonderful job in recognizing how to do the right thing. It was a job well done by the entire program as a whole. Nothing like this is ever easy, but the way teams have honored Foltz throughout the year has been awesome to see every single week.

As for the game itself, Minnesota leads the Cornhuskers on the road at the break, 17-10.
