San Francisco nearly pulled off an upset on the road against the Cardinals, but were held off late despite holding Arizona to just three points in the second half. David Johnson was neutralized for the most part in the running game, averaging less than three yards per carry. Johnson made up for that with two touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air. With Larry Fitzgerald’s career winding down, the next superstar in Arizona has clearly emerged. The Cardinals committed too many turnovers, something Bruce Arians will not be pleased with throughout the week. Carson Palmer threw two interceptions and fumbled, as did wide receiver J.J. Nelson.

Next Week: Arizona travels to Minnesota to face another underachieving team looking to stay in the playoff hunt. Minnesota has seen nearly all of its starters from the preseason roster go down, providing the Cardinals an opportunity to rebound on the road.

Playoff hopes: Arizona is still trailing Seattle in the NFC North, but are still in playoff contention. A tie early in the season between the two rivals carries a lot of weight, and the two will square off on Christmas Eve in the second to last game of their regular season.
. 4-4-1. Previous: .
