Nintendo’s latest mobile game, Super Mario Run, will be releasing on iPhone and iPad really soon. It’ll be the first mobile game to feature Mario.

Nintendo seems fully committed to the mobile video game market. During Apple’s keynote presentation this past September, Nintendo had a significant presence. The company even announced its newest mobile game, Super Mario Run.

Super Mario Run is a very unique game, and it implements a new way to play the iconic video game franchise. On Tuesday, Nintendo announced the release date for this new game and it’s coming very soon: December 15, to be exact.

If Nintendo has proven something this past year, it’s that they know how to create great mobile games. First, there was Miitomo. While not the greatest game, it did have some interesting features. If only these features were expanded on, it would be even better.

Next was Pokemon GO. We won’t say that Nintendo lent much of a hand into the development of this game, but the companywas responsible for the global phenomenon that is Pokemon. Niantic created something special with Pokemon GO, and it was a massive hit.

Up next, Super Mario Run. It will be the first game in the series to be created specifically and exclusively for mobile devices. It’s played very differently as well. In Super Mario Run, Mario runs forward on his own, but you use your finger to jump over obstacles, avoid enemies, use a variety of moves and so on.

Like most of the games in the series, it wouldn’t be right if you didn’t collect coins and jump on flagpoles as well.

Super Mario Run will release in 151 countries and regions, including the United States and Japan. At first it will only be compatible with iOS 8.0 devices, but there are plans for more mobile support in the future.
