Is the world big enough for Jake Layman AND Meyers Leonard?

Ok, here’s the thing. This podcast episode is barely about the NBA. Or basketball. I mean, we talk about the Portland Trailblazers, but there is no “analysis.” Or even “insight.” We do talk about Evan Turner and his contract and about the rising cap and salaries and blah blah blah, but this episode is more about the less tangible things. The things you think about on a meditation retreat. Such as Damian Lillard’s sense of justice. And how he can be compared favorably to a noble professional wrestler. Or to Worf.

And with that, Corbin Smith (@corbinasmith) outlines how Steph Curry’s long-range bombs would be an affront to a Klingon’s code of honor. Corbin is a writer for Vice Sports and hosts a podcast and loves talking about Star Trek and whatever else he feels like. He joins Fastbreak Breakfast for a wandering conversation about prehistoric apples and walking to the library. So we don’t necessarily get to the bottom of how the Blazers can shore up their middling defense. Or if Evan Turner deserves as much derision as he receives. But we do debate if Jake Layman would best be cast as an independent coffee house entrepreneur in a romantic comedy or as a polyamorous yoga instructor in something, well, steamier. And is Meyers Leonard his perfect compliment, or the perfect foil?

A full episode of Fastbreak Breakfast with Keith, Jon and Chuck will be available later this week!
