Greg Ward Jr. got lucky by having this pass bounce off a defender and go into the hands of a Houston receiver.

One of the most intriguing games of the college football weekend has the Houston Cougars hosting the No. 5 Louisville Cardinals battling. This game has plenty of College Football Playoff implications with Louisville sitting just outside of a spot for a CFP berth.

The first half hasn’t been kind to the Cardinals, though, as Houston has mostly dominated them through the first half. This has surprisingly seen Heisman Trophy frontrunner Lamar Jackson struggle. Around the midway point in the second quarter, he had negative rushing yards and just 67 yards passing. Certainly not the typical game for the sophomore quarterback.

As for Houston’s offense, they have looked effective in the passing game. This has seen Greg Ward Jr. throw two touchdown passes and nearly put up 150 yards.

Out of these two scores, the second one may have been the most bizarre. Ward threw a pass which hit off a Louisville defender and straight into the arms of receiver Duke Catalon. This was the sophomore running back’s second touchdown of the night.

A full look at this can be seen below.

It may not be normal, but it worked. Jackson and Louisville can’t stay quiet forever, so this gives Houston a little more breathing room.

A win on Thursday would be significant for the Cougars, who were once a top ten team this season. Losing to Navy and taking an embarrassing beat down from SMU didn’t help their case, which dropped them out of the AP Poll. Back to back wins over UCF and Tulane have eased the pain of those losses, though.
