The Indianapolis Colts overcame the odds to beat the Tennessee Titans and keep their playoff hopes alive.

It was a rout that would turn into a nail biter for the home team. But when it was all said and done, make it 11 consecutive wins for the Indianapolis Colts against the Tennessee Titans. Chuck Pagano’s club completed a season sweep of their AFC South rivals with a 24-17 victory on Sunday.

The Colts jumped out to a 21-0 thanks to a short touchdown run by Robert Turbin and a pair of two-yard touchdown passes from Andrew Luck to wideouts Donte Moncrief and T.Y. Hilton, respectively. The Titans responded with a late scoring drive in the second quarter but still trailed by 14 points at intermission.

But things began to get very interesting in the second half. Tennessee drew within three points with 12:14 to play. However, Adam Vinatieri (who missed earlier in the game to end his streak at 44 straight successful field goals) connected on a 49-yard attempt that gave Pagano and company some breathing room.

Three Stars

1. Andrew Luck

He continues to own the Titans, raising his record as a starter in this series to 9-0. Luck was picked off once but threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns in the seven-point home victory. In his nine games vs. Tennessee, the strong-armed quarterback has totaled 2,355 yards and nearly twice as many scores (15) as interceptions (8).

2. Frank Gore

A total of 22 touches added up to 121 yards from scrimmage for the veteran running back. Gore totaled 50 yards on the ground on 18 carries. He added 71 yards on four receptions, 49 of those on a key catch and run. It’s been a solid year for the 12-year pro, amassing 843 yards from scrimmage and seven scores this season.

3. Marcus Mariota

The Titans once again came up short against the Colts. But Mariota continued to have the hot hand and nearly led his team to a huge comeback win. The second-year pro overcame five sacks and threw for 290 yards and a pair of touchdowns without an interception. It marked the seventh consecutive game that the young signal-caller threw for at least two scores.

Odds

The Tennessee Titans were a 2.5-point underdog as they sought their first win over the Colts in their last 11 meetings. The team has also not won at Indianapolis since 2007, a total of eight consecutive road losses in this AFC South series.

Next Week

Next Sunday, the Tennessee Titans make their first trip to the Windy City since 2008 to face the struggling Chicago Bears. Three days earlier, the Indianapolis Colts play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thanksgiving night.
