Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green tore his right hamstring against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. How long will he be out?

The Cincinnati Bengals aren’t having fun anymore. They have plummeted to 3-6-1 on the year through their first 10 games of the 2016 NFL season. While the 5-5 Baltimore Ravens lead the putrid AFC North, the Bengals’ season might as well be over.

Early in the first quarter on Sunday’s home game against the Buffalo Bills, Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green tore his right hamstring and had to be carted off the field at Paul Brown Stadium.

A torn hamstring certainly takes a few months of recovery time, something Green and the awful Bengals don’t have enough time to wait for. Unless Cincinnati miraculously wins the AFC North and plays for Super Bowl LI in Houston in February, let’s just say that Green’s 2016 NFL campaign is in the books.

Cincinnati might be one of the 10 worst teams in football. The Bengals’ streak of five straight AFC Playoffs appearances was probably coming to an end anyway. If Cincinnati were smart, the Bengals would put Green on Injured Reserve and tell him to get back to full strength for spring practice.

The Bengals haven’t been in the top 10 of an NFL Draft since Cincinnati took Green No. 4 overall out of the University of Georgia in 2011. Cincinnati would use its high second round pick on quarterback Andy Dalton out of TCU and the Bengals have been a viable team in the AFC until this season.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Bengals punt the season. One would have to say that Marvin Lewis is coaching for his job. Without Green, the Bengals will be looking for its first head coach in over a decade.
