NFL roundup: Carr, Raiders defeat the Texans in Mexico City

Week 11 of the NFL season came to a close on Monday night, as the Oakland Raiders came back to defeat the Houston Texans, 27-20.
Derek Carr is beginning to get a reputation for being clutch, and on Monday night, he showed the nation why he is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Down 20-13 in the fourth quarter, Carr led the Raiders on two touchdown drives, throwing two TDs in the process.
The final score was a 35-yard touchdown to Amari Cooper, as the Raiders ran their record to 8-2 on the season. With the win, the Raiders are currently the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Staying in the AFC, the Indianapolis Colts may be without Andrew Luck for their Thanksgiving Day tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Luck is currently in concussion protocol, and if he cannot go, it will be a huge blow to a Colts team coming off a big win in Week 11. Scott Tolzien will get the nod for the Colts in what will be the biggest game of their season thus far if Luck is out.
Some good news in Arizona, as head coach Bruce Arians has been discharged from the hospital. Arians was admitted to the hospital after returning home from Minnesota. He underwent some tests, and should be able to join the team in preparation for this week’s game. Arians spent some time in the hospital earlier in the year dealing with symptoms from diverticulitis.

The Chicago Bears have been dealing with injuries to Jay Cutler all season, and they may be without him for the foreseeable future. Cutler injured his shoulder during the team’s loss to the New York Giants this past Sunday, and early reports say that he may miss the rest of the year. The injury could spell the end of Cutler’s tenure in Chicago, as the team is expect to part ways with the signal-caller after the season.

Steve Smith Sr. caught his 1,000 career pass on Sunday, and the veteran may be back for more in 2017. Smith became the 16th player in NFL history to reach that milestone against the Dallas Cowboys, as the 13-year player continues to show he is ageless at this point. While he had stated the 2016 season would be his last, Smith is playing at a very high level, and it is starting to cross his mind that another year may be in the cards.
