Can Reggie Jackson save the Detroit Pistons?

facebooktwitterreddit

The Detroit Pistons lost their fourth straight game on Monday night to the Houston Rockets 99-96. They even suffered the indignity (that perhaps they’ve grown numb to) of having Andre Drummond be intentionally fouled and sent to the line in the final seconds of a game that they only trailed by two. The Rockets purposefully allowed Andre Drummond a chance to tie the game with 4.6 seconds left. He missed his free throws.

The defeat left the Pistons 6-9 and anxiously awaiting the return of starting point guard Reggie Jackson. Journeyman back-up Ish Smith (#Ishplays30) is out-matched on a nightly basis and the resulting starting lineup has a net rating of -8.4. But will the return of Reggie Jackson be a panacea for all Detroit’s ills? Will he be able to elevate them to being an elite team in the East?

To help find out, Duncan Smith (@DuncanSmithNBA) joins Fastbreak Breakfast to talk DEE-TROIT, BASKET-BALL. Duncan is a writer for Hoops Habit and co-editor of Piston Powered. How does he think Jackson may be able to surprisingly shore up sagging defensive and rebounding numbers? And should anything be done to tweak the rotations until he comes back?
