The LSU locker room went berserk, claiming their support in keeping Ed Orgeron as their head coach.

Interim head coach Ed Orgeron has been the focal point of the coaching carousel. The headline about his job security has changed numerously throughout the season. But that reached a peak in the leadup to the regular season finale against Texas A&M on Thanksgiving night when reports circulated about LSU close to reaching a deal with Houston Cougars head coach Tom Herman.

If those reports do come true, that would leave Orgeron without a job, again, after a successful stint as an interim coach. Regardless of how the media’s portraying Coach O, his players rallied in support after their annihilation of Texas A&M in Week 13.

LSU went 5-2 with Coach O after the firing of Les Miles with both hard fought losses coming to Alabama in Week 9 and Florida in Week 12, the two teams who will play in the SEC Championship Game next Saturday.

Orgeron went 6-2 as the interim head coach at USC after Lane Kiffin was fired in 2013. He didn’t get to keep the job that ended up going to Clay Helton. He sat out a year of football before taking the job as the LSU defensive line coach last year. Orgeron previously served as the head coach at Ole Miss, where he went 10=25 in three seasons.

It’s been an up-and-down year for both the LSU Tigers and their fans. They lost to Alabama but played them closer than any other team has this year and lost to Florida after failing to convert on 4th and goal from the 1 during last week’s loss.

If the Coach O era is, in fact, over with in Baton Rouge, the LSU Tigers clearly voiced their thanks after their blowout win on Thanksgiving.
