The Western Michigan Broncos will play the Ohio Bobcats in the 2016 MAC Football Championship Game. When is the 2016 MAC Football Championship Game?

The Western Michigan Broncos will meet the Ohio Bobcats at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan for the 2016 MAC Football Championship Game. Kickoff from Ford Field will be at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 2. ESPN 2 will have the telecast.

Western Michigan is one of two teams in Division I football that is a perfect 12-0 (8-0) through the 2016 college football regular season. The Broncos won the West Division of the MAC outright. They sealed a perfect regular season by defeating the Toledo Rockets handily in Week 13.

Ohio will represent the MAC East Division in the 2016 MAC Football Championship Game. The Bobcats finished their regular season at 8-4 (6-2). Ohio was tied with the Miami (OH) Redhawks in the MAC East, but had the head-to-head tiebreaker to win the division.

This game is important for several reasons. The first is that it will be pinning two of the best coaches in the MAC head-to-head in Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck and Ohio’s Frank Solich. Fleck is an on-the-rise head coaching candidate. He may end up leaving Western Michigan after this game for a Power 5 gig. Solich has been with Ohio for a while now, but used to be the main man in charge of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Fleck and his star wide receiver Corey Davis have put the Broncos on the map in the college football world in 2016. Davis might end up going in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He became the leading receiver in FBS history on Friday after his performance against Toledo.
