Manchester City eked out a narrow 2-1 win against Burnley Saturday thanks to two Sergio Aguero goals. Here are the full highlights.

Burnley have been excellent at home this season, and they got off to an excellent start at home to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City Saturday, taking the lead in the 14th minute thanks to a beautiful 20-yard volley from Dean Marney.

Burnley should perhaps have had an opportunity to take the lead even earlier, when Nicolas Otamendi seemed to barge into George Boyd in the penalty area, but referee Andre Mariner decided not to award a spot kick.

City grew into the game after falling behind, however, and after forcing Burnley keeper Paul Robinson into a couple of decent saves, equalized through Sergio Aguero, who bundled in at the back post from a corner.

City came out fast in the second half, and the pressure eventually showed in the 60th minute. The Clarets missed multiple tackles before Fernandinho drilled the ball into Aguero’s knees for the Argentine’s second of the match.

Burnley will be disappointed with the result given the overall quality of their play, but can take heart from the performance after a dire showing against West Brom last Monday. Sean Dyche’s side will face much easier tests than this, but they’ll need to overcome the inconsistencies shown in the last two performances to avoid the drop.

City, meanwhile, regain their place at the top of the Premier League, if only until Liverpool and Chelsea play later in the day. The Citizens haven’t quite recaptured their stunning form from earlier in the season, but the fact they were able to grind out a result away from home, three days after a difficult Champions League tie and with two of their best players (Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva) on the bench, bodes well for the future.
