Ohio State receiver Curtis Samuel was quiet for much of The Game, but came through in the biggest moment for the Buckeyes against Michigan.

Out of all of the classic games played between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines in their rivalry, The Game had never gone to overtime prior to 2016. That changed as the No. 2 and 3 teams, respectively, squared off at Ohio Stadium on Saturday. With a College Football Playoff spot on the line, the game went into OT after Tyler Durbin redeemed himself to tie the game with a field goal in the final seconds of regulation.

After the Buckeyes scored easily, Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight came up huge on fourth down to tie it up for the Wolverines in the first overtime. So not only would this be the first-ever overtime game between the two, but it went into a second as well.

Michigan was stopped short on their opening possession of the period, having to settle for a field goal. But their defense looked solid and stingy. On third down, they looked to have receiver Curtis Samuel blown up for a big loss. However, the dynamic weapon somehow got loose after scampering around and almost ended up with a first down. After J.T. Barrett barely got the first going for it on fourth down, they called Samuel’s number again on a carry.

Once again, he came through—this time in the biggest way:

That’s a game-winning run by Curtis Samuel, a walk-off in The Game. Between the wicked cutback and the blocking on that play, the Buckeyes couldn’t have drawn it up any better.

Now the Buckeyes are left almost surely in the CFP, but potentially not in the Big Ten title game. They’ll need a Penn State loss on Saturday afternoon to get them in as the Nittany Lions remain their only loss on the season at this point.
