The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hang on to beat the Seattle Seahawks, 14-5 at home on Sunday afternoon. Tampa Bay improves to 6-5 on the year, while Seattle falls to 7-3-1 on the year.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a 14-5 lead on the visiting Seattle Seahawks at halftime. A pair of Jameis Winston to Mike Evans touchdown passes would spark a strong first half offensive effort by the Buccaneers. Seattle would struggle to move the football, with only a safety and field goal in the first half.

The Buccaneers could have led at halftime 17-3 if Roberto Aguayo made his first field goal attempt and Luke Stocker wouldn’t be called for holding in the end zone for a safety. Nevertheless, the Buccaneers were in a great spot to shock the Seahawks at Raymond James on Sunday afternoon.

Strangely, there would not be any more points in this huge NFC game, as the Buccaneers would outlast the Seahawks by the same score, 14-15. Seattle’s offense evaporated, the Seahawks could not get into the end zone, and a pair of late-game turnovers would prove too costly.

Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham was stripped near the red zone by Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David, who would take it 53 yards in the other direction. Tampa Bay had its opportunity to go up big, but Winston was picked off in the end zone by Kam Chancellor while trying to connect with Evans for a third touchdown strike.

Seattle would drive inside of two minutes, but Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson would be picked off by Bradley McDougald to finally seal it for the Buccaneers. The Seahawks could afford the loss with all three NFC West rivals also falling on the road in Week 12. Tampa Bay keeps pace with the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South race.

Three Stars

  1. Mike Evans: Evans was Winston’s favorite target. He had eight catches for 104 yards and two touchdown receptions.
  2. Jameis Winston: Winston completed 21 of 28 passes for 220 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He would also have 12 rushing yards on five carries.
  3. Lavonte David: David would have seven tackles, five solo, a forced fumble, and a 53-yard fumble recovery.
