A pair of Colorado Buffaloes players will miss the Pac-12 title game after being involved in a bar fight early Sunday morning.

The Colorado Buffaloes will be down two players when they take on the Washington Huskies in Saturday’s Pac-12 Championship Game due to their roles in a drunken altercation over the weekend, according to Zach Barnett of College Football Talk.

According to a Boulder police report, senior wide receiver Abdul Jaleel Awini and junior tight end Chris Hill went out drinking in a local bar following Colorado’s 27-22 victory over the Utah Utes to clinch the Pac-12 South title. Awini was kicked out the Walrus Saloon for excessive drunkenness and blamed Hill, leading to a physical altercation between the two.

To make matters much wore, Awini casually admitted to having cocaine in his wallet while being treated and was subsequently arrested on charges of drug possession. Hill was charged with third-degree assault for starting the fistfight.

Colorado wasted no time in suspending both players for the Pac-12 Championship Game and likely beyond, pending the results of the case. While neither figured to get much playing time against the Huskies, any distraction is not a positive for a team ahead of such a big game.

Awini, a transfer from Air Force who has played quarterback, defensive end and receiver in his career, has not recorded a catch this season, with most of his playing time coming on special teams. Hill recorded his lone catch of the season on a four-yard touchdown pass against Idaho State back in Week 2.

The fight somewhat puts a damper on the huge win, which was the biggest for the program in over a decade. A Pac-12 title would be a massive accomplishment for a team that went 2-10 just three years ago and hasn’t been to a bowl game since 2007.
