Most major teams have easy schedules to start the season with a few tough games sprinkled in, but in order for Butler to earn some respect, they knew they’d have to face a gauntlet in November. Through seven wins, Butler has beaten Arizona, Vanderbilt, Northwestern and Utah.

Butler has climbed the rankings to No. 18 in the latest AP Poll and the Bulldogs should be even higher as non-conference play wears on. The solid all-around play has helped them to this hot start and I don’t expect them to cool down.

Kelan Martin leads the team in scoring with 16.4 points and has 4.0 rebounds to go along with it. Keep an eye on Andrew Chrabascz as well who can drain threes, if given an opening. The only issue may be the lack of a dominant rebounder.

Central Arkansas is just 1-6 to start the season and Butler won’t be an easy opponent, by any means. The Bulldogs are the second ranked team that the Bears have faced this season and the first, Wisconsin, won by 32. This one could get ugly.

The Bears are currently the worst team in the Southland Conference and they’ll need a big turnaround before conference play. The main issue has to be the elevated turnover numbers, averaging 17 per game.

Three players do average in double figures and could give the Bulldogs some trouble on Saturday evening. Jordan Howard leads the way with 16.3 points and he shoots 38 percent from three-point range. Derreck Brooks and Mathieu Kamba also average in double figures.
