The Green Bay Packers kept their thin NFC North title hopes alive thanks to a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans.

The Green Bay Packers have very slim hopes to win the NFC North. Though the Detroit Lions won, Green Bay also won, beating the Houston Texans 21-13. With their win, they have a 6-6 record, two games behind the Lions at 8-4. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans fall to 6-6, putting them in a tie for the AFC South title with the Tennessee Titans.

Aaron Rodgers did not put up his usual numbers, but he was very solid. On a very snowy day, Rodgers put up 209 passing yards, completing 20 of his 30 passes for two touchdowns. He also rushed for 16 yards. However, he did lose a fumble. Aaron Ripkowski got a rushing touchdown, making him just the second Green Bay offensive player to score a touchdown that didn’t directly involve Rodgers. Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb each had a touchdown. Eight of Rodgers’ 20 completions went to Nelson.

Brock Osweiler was quite solid for the Texans, completing 22 of his 35 passes for 202 passing yards and two touchdowns. However, Ryan Griffin lost a very costly fumble for them. He had four catches for 35 receiving yards. Credit the Packers for holding Lamar Miller to just 22 yards on 14 carries.

Highlights

Three Stars

  1. Jordy Nelson: Today, Nelson showed why he’s his quarterback’s favorite receiver. 40 percent of Rodgers’ completions went to him. He had over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
  2. Aaron Rodgers: Green Bay lives and dies through their gunslinger. Today was no different. Despite suboptimal conditions, Rodgers protected the ball very well and threw for two touchdowns.
  3. Brock Osweiler: Osweiler hasn’t been great this season for the Texans. However, he performed quite admirably despite his team’s loss. His two passing touchdowns kept Houston in the game.
