For the second straight season, the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Jets meet on Monday Night Football. Is either ready for prime time?

Is he a go or not? Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star says he expects Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck to get the starting nod on Monday night against the New York Jets. That is despite the fifth-year signal-caller remained in the concussion protocol. Luck was scheduled to meet with an independent neurologist on Friday.

Chuck Pagano’s team desperately missed their field general in the Thanksgiving night home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. With him in the lineup, he figures to give a struggling Jets’ secondary fits.

As for the Green and White, they will look to take advantage of the Colts’ subpar defense and keep Luck and that passing attack off the field. It figures to be an interesting matchup as the teams meet on a Monday night for a second straight year. Can the Jets duplicate their 20-7 win of a season ago?

Highlights

Three Stars

1. T.Y Hilton

This look at the Colts’ best wideout may be as much about Jets’ veteran cornerback Darrelle Revis as it is about the big-play performer from Indianapolis. We have seen the 10-year defender give up his share of long gains this season and Hilton is tailor-made to give him fits. The talented receiver leads the club with 60 receptions, good for 942 yards and five touchdowns.

2. Matt Forte

The team leader in total touchdowns (8), the former Chicago Bears’ Pro Bowler leads the Jets with 759 yards on the ground. Forte is fourth on the club with 26 catches, good for 202 yards and a score. His 961 total yards from scrimmage is 16th in the league. But it’s his 202 carries and the ability to play keep away from the Indianapolis offense that are significant. The Colts’ run defense ranks just 23rd in the NFL.

3. Brandon Marshall

Due to the inconsistency of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and the absence of fellow wideout Eric Decker, the numbers are down for the talented Marshall. He still leads the Jets with 49 catches for 668 yards, but he’s hauled in only three touchdown passes. Is this the night the New York passing attack gets untracked?

Odds

The Indianapolis Colts are a 1-point road favorite to knock off the Jets at MetLife Stadium. Neither one of these defenses has excelled this season, hence the OVER/UNDER at 49.

Next Week

The Colts look to even the season series with the Houston Texans as they host the defending AFC South champions. Indianapolis dropped a 26-23 Sunday night overtime decision earlier this year. The Jets head west to the Bay Area to take on the reeling San Francisco 49ers.
