The Heisman Trophy finalists are announced on Monday, Dec. 5 but when is the ceremony?

There have been a ton of outstanding individual performances in college football this season. This should lead to a lot of debate after the Heisman Trophy finalists announcement comes on Monday, Dec. 5. With a very strong field and no clear favorite, the ceremony should be quite dramatic. When will it be this season?

It will be on Saturday, Dec. 10 in New York. The ceremony begins at 8:00 p.m. ET. At the event, the Heisman Trophy winner will be revealed. Someone will be joining an extremely exclusive list consisting of the best NCAA football players of all-time. However, even being a finalist ensures history will remember you as one of the best players of the 2016 season. And considering how great the 2016 college football season has been, that’s quite the accomplishment.

Even though the Heisman goes to the most outstanding player in college football, it doesn’t mean success in the NFL. A great example of this is Tim Tebow. He might be the most impressive college quarterback of all time. However, his skills did not translate over to the NFL. Moreover, Eric Crouch put up some incredible numbers leading the Nebraska Cornhuskers and their option offense, he but never even saw a snap in the NFL. Granted, that could have been due to an unfortunate injury to his leg, but still, the list of Heisman winners who flopped in the NFL is a long one.

However, there have been some very successful Heisman winners. In recent years, three of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL have won the prestigious award. Cam Newton, Marcus Mariota, and Jameis Winston are recent winners. Also, arguably the best defensive back in recent history, Charles Woodson, won the Heisman, though he was used as both a corner and a wide receiver with Michigan.

Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield will be among those trying to join the group who makes it big in the NFL.
