Duke Blue Devils guard Grayson Allen appeared to have hit the deck after missing a layup and managed to get the foul call.

There isn’t a more polarizing team in college basketball than the Duke Blue Devils. They are one of those teams that people either love them or hate them religiously. They also always have that guy that gets the same type of reaction. Grayson Allen is that guy for the Blue Devils and he’s also an impressive basketball player for them.

He likes to do whatever he can get calls and put himself in position to get points for his team. Against Tennessee State on Monday night, Allen got a classic foul call after what appeared to be a blatant flop. As he went up for a layup, he completely missed and decided to hit the deck.

He would get the call on the floor and Tennessee State looked stunned considering no one touched him. It’s always a puzzling moment when calls like this occur on the floor, but Allen isn’t the only one that picks them up.

It’s easy to try and hold this against Allen but it’s hard to blame him when he knows how to get the call. It’s more or less on the officiating crews for not calling it correctly on the floor during the middle of a game.

Nonetheless, it was an epic flop and he got away with it. It’s just a product of the times and the way basketball is called this day. Give him credit for knowing how to exploit the system and getting to the free throw line.
