Miami Hurricanes quarterback Brad Kaaya announced on Monday that he will be entering the 2017 NFL Draft
The 2017 NFL Draft class received a new member at the quarterback position on Monday evening, as the Miami Hurricanes’ Brad Kaaya announced through a school release that he will be entering the fold.
Kaaya is coming off a season in which he threw for 3,532 yards with 27 touchdowns. He recently capped his career at Miami this postseason with a win over West Virginia in the Russell Athletic Bowl. In the win, after a slow start, Kaaya ended up tossing for 282 yards and four touchdowns. It was Miami’s first bowl win in a decade.
Not only is Kaaya leaving the Hurricanes, but he’s leaving as one of the most successful in history after coming in as a highly touted recruit three seasons ago and immediately getting the nod.
As for whether or not this was the right decision for Kaaya to make, well, you’ll get some varying answers to that question. Although, most will tell you that he could have benefited from one more season at Miami, as he did struggle with some accuracy issues throughout his career, even this past season.

Ultimately, though, in what should be a somewhat weak quarterback class, he and his team think that there’s a good chance he can be taken at a good position. So now he can prepare to show the NFL scouts that he can take care of some of the issues that he did show during his time as the leader of the Hurricanes offense.
