For those who have waited for Injustice 2, you won’t have to wait much longer.

If you were a fan of Injustice: Gods Among Us, then get ready for the sequel. Injustice 2 looks to build on everything the first one was and surpass it in every way imaginable. It also has a release date, which is good to know.

We haven’t seen much about the new game for a couple of months. The last update we received was during the NetherRealm Studios panel at San Diego Comic Con 2016. During this panel, there were quite a few updates, such as details on the single-player mode, and new playable characters.

Coming off of Suicide Squad, it wasn’t very surprising that Harley Quinn and Deadshot were added to the roster. They’re definitely some fan favorites and they were the only good things about that movie. So, it’s cool to see that they’ll be playable characters now.

As we said above, the game now has an official release date. Co-creator of Mortal Kombat and Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios Ed Boon confirmed this on Twitter. Check it out below:

For those who are unaware of what this game is about, let’s give you a simple explanation. It’s Mortal Kombat, just with DC superhero characters. Instead of using characters like Scorpion or Raiden, you’ll be playing as Superman or Batman. Sounds cool, right?

Other than the poster boys of the DC universe, there are many other characters that will be playable. So far, other than the four that we mentioned, the other confirmed characters are Aquaman, Atrocitus, Blue Bettle, Gorilla Grodd, and Wonder Woman.

Much like the Mortal Kombat series, this game focuses heavily on the fighting genre. You can play on your couch against your friends, or you can play against others online. However, the single-player mode is very fun and tells an incredible story, which is similar to the comics.

Injustice 2 releases on May 16, 2017.
