Dabo Swinney didn’t hold back after winning the National Championship responding to Colin Cowherd calling Clemson ‘frauds’

The Alabama Crimson Tide were the favorites heading into Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship game. Not just the oddsmakers, but the majority of experts and pickers around the country felt the same. As they’ve been before, Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers were underdogs. And once again, they proved everyone wrong with a thrilling last-second win in the title game.

However, one of the most outspoken voices regarding Clemson leading up to the title game was the controversial Colin Cowherd. The FS1 radio host wasn’t buying into the Tigers at all, going as far as to call the ACC Champions frauds. Obviously he couldn’t have been more misguided, just like everyone rolling with the Tide.

Naturally, the always emotional and excitable Swinney was asked about what Cowherd had to say about his team. Even after such a big win that obviously had him all out of sorts, the Clemson head coach didn’t miss his chance at a biting retort to the radio host. In response, Swinney simply laid a KO punch to Cowherd—proverbially, of course—by saying that it was he who is the fraud:

Well, that’s one way to essentially dismiss the so-called “haters.”

Swinney has made a name for himself in the coaching ranks, clearly. However, he’s also one of the more entertaining coaches in the sport. He’s always ready to deliver the money quote, just as he did in his post-game speech. With that said, this jab at Cowherd put that to absolute shame. Perhaps the radio host will be a little bit more choosy with his words the next time he doubts Swinney. Then again, chances are that he won’t—that’s just how he operates.
