One of the lasting parts of Barack Obama’s cultural identity will likely be his connection to the game of basketball. Whether it was him playing pickup basketball or talking crap to then Wizards forward Paul Pierce in front of a group of kids conversing with NBA stars at the White House, it was undeniable Obama had a connection to the game.

As a result, it’s fitting Obama has his own basketball mixtape, made by the folks at Bleacher Report. It features him draining 3s in full dress clothes, teaching Stephen Curry to shoot in the White House and running the fastbreak. It’s not particularly long, but it’s a good reminder Obama stayed connected to the game while leading the free world. It’s certainly telling that as he exits office, there’s talk of many NBA players not visiting the White House for at least four years.

Hopefully, though, this isn’t the end of of Obama’s connection to the game. He’s talked about perhaps owning an NBA team, even in just a minority role. A few suggestions of what teams he should get involved with:

  • The Washington Wizards: Obama will still live in the nation’s capital post election and he could go to a lot of games. Plus, watching John Wall play is pretty great.
  • The Chicago Bulls: Obama’s hometown team makes logical sense. He also likely wouldn’t stand for building an inefficient, doomed-to-fail roster.
  • The Sacramento Kings: He has solved messes before after all.

But whatever he does next, let’s hope Obama isn’t leaving the game anytime soon.
