Why won’t LeBron James take a backseat in the regular season?

The regular season is a giant annoyance to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Or, at least, that’s how they should be treating it. Unfortunately, LeBron James is leading the NBA in minutes per game. And despite all those minutes played, the Cavaliers have a worse record this year than they did a year ago when David Blatt was fired.

So what is keeping James from taking a page from the Aaron Rodgers “relax” playbook?  Why is he needling the front office, demanding playmakers and whining opining that the roster is “top-heavy?”

To answer these questions, Chris Manning (@cwmwrites) joins Fastbreak Breakfast. Chris in the host of the Locked on Cavs podcast and a writer for Fear the Sword. He addresses the issues with James logging heavy minutes and the following topics:

  • Should the Cavaliers capitulate and make a roster move?
  • Are there free agents available now that would help the team immediately?
  • Is the roster as currently constructed enough to defeat the Golden State Warriors if they meet again?
  • What are the odds for any sort of Banana Boat reunion?
  • Are we all certain Kevin Love being in the All-Star Game is worth keeping Joel Embiid out?

Also, in response to last week’s episode about the Chicago Bulls, Daniel Coughlin (@xvanwilderx) of Pippen Ain’t Easy joins as an added bonus. Daniel has some different opinions in regards to potentially moving Jimmy Butler this season and is in favor of the Bulls embracing a quick tanking session.
