Updated Super Bowl 51 odds: Patriots still slight favorites

Super Bowl 51 will be between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots. Here are the updated betting odds for this title bout.
We’ve got one more game left in the 2016 NFL season: Super Bowl LI. Super Bowl 51 will feature the NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons and the AFC Champion New England Patriots.
Atlanta was the No. 2 seed in the NFC, going 11-5 during the regular season. The Falcons throttled the Seattle Seahawks 36-20 in the NFC Divisional Round and pulverized the Green Bay Packers 44-21 in the NFC Championship. This is the second Super Bowl in Falcons franchise history and the first for quarterback Matt Ryan and head coach Dan Quinn.
New England was the No. 1 seed in the AFC, going 14-2 during the regular season. The Patriots outclassed the Houston Texans 34-16 in the AFC Divisional Round and clobbered the Pittsburgh Steelers 36-17 in the AFC Championship. This is the ninth trip to the Bowl in Patriots franchise history. New England has gone to seven Super Bowls with Tom Brady at quarterback and Bill Belichick at head coach.
With Super Bowl 51 beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 5, let’s take a look at the updated betting odds for this NFL title bout.

Point Spread: Patriots -3
Moneylines: New England -145, Atlanta +140
Over/Under: 58
According to OddsShark.com, the Patriots will be laying three points to the Falcons in the Super Bowl. The associated moneylines for this game are New England -145 and Atlanta +140. This game’s over/under comes in at a combined 58 points.
While there hasn’t been a ton of movement with these odds, there has been some since its opening. The point spread has stayed at Patriots -3 since it opened. Las Vegas got that one right. It’s rare to see a point spread not change at all in two weeks time.
The best moneyline for the Patriots is -145. That one is being offered by Bovada. New England opened at -161, but has been at -155 for the most part heading into Super Bowl Sunday. Atlanta’s best moneyline is +140. That was the Falcons’ opening moneyline. Most have Atlanta at +135 with Bovada having them at a worst +125.

The one betting odd to keep a close watch on is the over/under. It initially opened at 59.5. In the last two weeks, it has dropped 1.5 points to 58 combined points. People are starting to think that this game may not be the inevitable shootout that we all were hoping for.
