It appears that some people on Twitter were fooled into thinking Gisele Bündchen tweeted out that Super Bowl 51 was rigged for money.

Twitter can be a safe haven for the extreme and unverified at times. Fact checking isn’t always on the menu when it comes to Twitter and sometimes people can fall for anything. There was a moment during Super Bowl 51, where people thought Tom Brady’s wife, Gisele Bündchen tweeted something she didn’t.

As the Patriots went into halftime down 18, Complex posted a screenshot of a tweet from Bündchen claiming the Super Bowl was rigged. People bought it up immediately and it spread all over the social media platform.

Besides the fact it looked clearly Photoshopped from the beginning, it was obvious it was satirical and not real. Yet that didn’t stop people from thinking it was real and that she was clearly upset with how the first half went.

Upon even more review, this is a tweet ripped directly from Stephen Curry’s wife, Ayesha, during the NBA Finals last year. Curry of course felt the refs were giving the Cleveland Cavaliers preferential treatment.

So no, she isn’t tweeting that the Super Bowl is rigged. While she has been upset before when her husband and the Patriots lose, this tweet is not real and never was. It was all ripped from Curry’s tweet this past summer.

It’s a good exercise in trying to debunk what is real and what is fake on social media. These days more than ever, it is important to be vigilant and call for truth.
