Did you catch that Walking Dead actor’s Super Bowl 51 commercial?

The Walking Dead found a backdoor into Super Bowl 51 thanks to Jeffrey Dean Morgan starring in a commercial during the game.

If you were watching the second half of Super Bowl 51, chances are you were struggling to keep your eyes open. Unlike the 1999 Super Bowl, in which the Atlanta Falcons were blown out, the Dirty Birds were on the right side of a lopsided game.

With the game seemingly out of reach and therefore not worth being invested in, you might have missed a commercial with a pretty star studded cast. Aaron Eckhart kicked off a medieval commercial advertising some sort of mobile game, but it also starred a Walking Dead actor.

It was a blink and you miss it moment, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan was indeed in a commercial during the Super Bowl for a game called ‘The Battle of Evony’.

Yup, that’s Negan in chainmail.

The commercial has been floating out there for a while now, but this highlights the importance of the Super Bowl. While the ad has been talked about in certain corners over the last few days, showing it in front of millions of people means that everyone knows about it now.

For Walking Dead fans, it’s an early appetizer to the second half of the season. Morgan will return as Negan next Sunday when The Walking Dead airs its midseason premiere episode. It’ll be going smack against the Grammy Awards, but let’s be real — you’re going to be watching The Walking Dead.

There’s actually an extended version of the commercial, which you can see below:

We can’t really tell who the good guys are here — although Morgan doesn’t seem to be riding with the American flag. That’s an indicator that even outside of Alexandria and his Savior’s Compound, he can’t help but play the villain.
