Roger Goodell booed mercilessly while giving Lombardi Trophy to Patriots (Video)

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was booed endlessly as he presented the Lombardi Trophy to the New England Patriots on Sunday night.

A moment that people have been pondering for a couple of years has finally happened. After the saga that was DeflateGate and the ensuing suspension of Tom Brady, the New England Patriots won Super Bowl 51 on Sunday night. That meant it was time for Roger Goodell to give the trophy to Tom Brady They had to overcome a 25-point deficit and win in overtime to get there.

As the Patriots pulled off the greatest comeback in the history of the Super Bowl, it was their turn to receive their fifth Lombardi Trophy. Goodell tried to speak and congratulate the Patriots, but the fans in attendance booed him so badly that he could barely speak. He finally gave the trophy over to New England.

With a crowd that was pro New England, it’s no surprise they took every opportunity that they could to boo the commissioner. Many felt that this whole ordeal was Goodell’s way of getting after the Patriots for things that happened in the past.

Nonetheless, a four-game suspension didn’t deter New England and they are now World Champions. They get the last laugh at the end of things and Goodell had to endure the harsh crowd that served him his boos.

Bob Kraft didn’t hold back in his acceptance speech either. He took several jabs at the commissioner and really played to the crowd in attendance. The Super Bowl has come to an end and the Patriots pulled off the impossible odds down 25.
