Matt Ryan connected with Julio Jones for an impressive catch on the sideline against the New England Patriots during Super Bowl 51.

The Atlanta Falcons dominated the New England Patriots during the first three quarters of Super Bowl 51. New England made it a one-possession game in the fourth quarter as the Falcons offense stalled. Matt Ryan found Julio Jones deep as Jones hauled in the ball to complete the long pass. The wide receiver found a way to get two feet in bounds before landing out of play.

This pass gave the Falcons momentum as they got into field goal range. Jones somehow grabbed the ball and got two feet down before he went out of bounds. Likewise, Jones was able to bring the ball into his chest to maintain possession of the ball as his momentum took him in a different direction.

Jones’ ridiculous catch put the Falcons into field goal range as they attempted to extend their one-possession lead. However, Atlanta was knocked out of attempting a field goal after the Patriots sacked Ryan and the Falcons were called for a holding penalty.

These self-inflicted plays could come back to haunt them. At the same time, this play was one of the best seen during Super Bowl 51. If the Falcons can hang on, then Jones’ catch while falling out of bounds could earn him the coveted MVP award.
