Falcons fans blamed their tardiness to school the day after Super Bowl 51 on their team.

The day after the Super Bowl is one of the most dreaded days of the year. Everyone who watched the game is exhausted and nobody wants to go to work or school. This is definitely the case in Atlanta, where Atlanta Falcons fans are having to deal with a heart wrenching loss. Kids are quite creative, so it’s not a surprise some Greater Atlanta Christian School students blamed tardiness to school on their favorite team.

“Falcons depression” and “failure to rise up” are the definite winners. Gee, wonder why those two kids overslept? Could it have been the first overtime in Super Bowl history? Hey, give credit to those four students for at least being honest.

To be fair, it’s understandable why Atlanta students didn’t feel like showing up to school on time. Losing a Super Bowl is serious business. Blowing a 28-3 lead to lose in the title game has to rank among the worst debacles in sports history. Even for a city with a history as futile and disappointing as Atlanta’s, Super Bowl 51 might take the cake.

The Falcons have a lot to answer for. For starters, they’ve got a terrible curse to overcome. Super Bowl losers haven’t done well as of late. For example, the Carolina Panthers had a terrible season right after losing Super Bowl 50 to the Denver Broncos. However, the Dirty Birds likely have what it takes to over come it. They have only have one major free agent to worry about and most of their core are still quite young or in their prime.

Atlanta has a darn good quarterback in Matt Ryan and a deadly receiver in Julio Jones. Factor in the meteoric rise of Taylor Gabriel and even though they will likely lose Kyle Shanahan, they should be back in the mix for 2017.
