The Walking Dead got creative when it came to guests for its midseason premiere, as DeAngelo Williams showed up on Talking Dead.

One of the best parts of The Walking Dead these days is the aftershow, Talking Dead. Not only do they bring on cast members from the episode, they also bring on celebrities who are superfans, perhaps to prove that they’re just like us.

Yvette Nicole Brown is easily the biggest fan of them all, as she has appeared on Talking Dead nine times. But this week, Chris Hardwick brought on Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams. He joined Greg Nicotero, the director, and Khary Payton who plays King Ezekiel:

They had a pretty good reason to bring him on, too. Williams just had a walker-themed wedding, where everyone went all out to pay tribute to AMC’s hit show:

That easily made for the best part of Talking Dead. Fans of the show knew Wiliams was going to be on since he played along with the Story Sync for the midseason premiere, but seeing the images from his wedding still had to come as a big shock.

Williams was probably honored to be a part of the first Talking Dead episode after the midseason premiere. While the episode did leave us on a big cliffhanger and didn’t show Negan or Eugene at all, there was a lot to like. Namely, the scene in which Rick and Michonne took out a whole herd of walkers with two cars and a cable.

It’s not often that a guest on Talking Dead will go on to star in the show. But if there’s anyone who should do it, it’s DeAngelo Williams. He’s already proven that he makes a mean walker, and part of why he did that was probably so he could try out for the show. Playing time is hard to come by in Pittsburgh considering he’s behind Le’Veon Bell, so I’m sure he won’t mind taking a break to appear on The Walking Dead at some point.
