According to Adrian Wojnarowski, it appears Carmelo Anthony could be staying in New York.

The New York Knicks-Carmelo Anthony marriage has been less than fruitful. Traded there from the Denver Nuggets in 2011, Anthony has only led the Knicks to three playoff appearances the past six seasons.

No season has ever gone farther than the conference semis, which was their last playoff birth in 2013. The Knicks, as well as Anthony, have struggled the last three seasons, missing the playoffs altogether. With Anthony at 32 years old, his days of being elite are numbered. Couple that with the Knicks lack of success, it appeared a trade for Anthony to start anew was brewing.

Teams such as the Los Angeles Clippers and the Cleveland Cavaliers were primary suitors for Anthony. But nothing has come about besides interest. The trade deadline is this coming Thursday and while teams have kept their plans under wraps before, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks may plan to keep Anthony in New York.

"“The Knicks have not brought anything to his [Anthony’s] group that would inspire them to really want to waive this no-trade clause,” Wojnarowski reports. “Most of the teams who had interest in him are looking in other directions right now and expect Melo to remain in New York, at least for the rest of this season.”"

Could the Knicks really keep Anthony for the rest of the season? It’s a strong possibility, but not sure if it’s a wise one.

Luckily, the NBA All-Star game just played, which allows teams to recover and regroup. It’s a recurring trend for teams to either get hot post-All Star break or cool down, so who knows if the Knicks will be the former or the latter. If the Knicks keep Anthony and they go on a run, so be it. If not, I’m sure they will regret holding him.
