Dalvin Cook

RB, Florida State

For the Indianapolis Colts, the 2016 NFL season was a bit of a disappointment. While they were technically a playoff contender for most of the season, nobody really expected them to do much of anything. The offensive line was atrocious, and you have to be thinking how many more beating star quarterback Andrew Luck can take during his career.

Luck is in the middle of his prime, but the lack of protection has to be waning on him. The Colts need to do whatever they can to bolster the offensive line this offseason, and they should look to do that with some veterans in free agency. In the draft, the Colts should bring in a new starting running back, and Dalvin Cook is about as good a running back prospect as there is in this draft.

Cook had a record-breaking career at Florida State, and is the kind of player that can turn a game on its head on any given play. Luck needs a player like him in the backfield to take some of the pressure off of him, as teams are able to just pin their ears back and rush him on nearly every play. Veteran Frank Gore is still a productive back, and has done a nice job since joining the Colts, but the time is now for them to bring in their next Edgerrin James.
